ABSTRACT
Does beta thalassaemia major manifest clinically at three months of age? Yes, it does, contrary to traditional teaching. Traditionally, it is taught that this disease manifests clinically around six months to one year of age and that a haemoglobinopathy which manifests at three months of age cannot be beta thalassaemia major.
